Review

OMG!!!

Winter is the fourth and final book of the Lunar Chronicles and it's loosely based on the fairy tale of Snow White.

The story takes place on Luna and we have a new character is Princess Winter, Queen Levana stepdaughter. She had a brief mention in Cinder, but in this book she becomes a real true heroine. To know more about her and how she became Levana's stepdaughter, also to know more about Levana's background, I strongly recommend you to read Fairest (Novella 3.5). It fills a lot of the blanks.

This series never disappoints me.  I know a lot of people read it for the romance, but I love the action, the conspiracy, the storytelling.

There are a lot of couples. especially in this book, I guess it is the base of fairy tales.

Cinder and Kai: Cinder has to prove to her people of Luna that she is the true heir of the throne and start a revolution against Levana. There are similarities to the Hunger Games. The city centre is rich, full of nobility while in the suburbs live the poor divided into districts.

Kai has the task to distract Levana and continue with the wedding. Of course he is under surveillance and not trusted, it's all about his diplomatic skills.
I like that at the end their story is very believable.

Scarlet and Wolf: These two. I love the character of Scarlet, she's brave with always a witty remark. Wolf (and I will always imagine him as a Klingon. LOL!) is still not one of my favourite character. Scarlet is still a prisoner in Luna, but thanks to Jacin, she and Winter escape and riunite with the others. Her friendship with Winter is so bizarre, I guess they complement each other.

Wolf's life has never been easy, in this final chapter of the series, he meets his mother again, he is tortured and he thinks he has lost the love of hie life. Scarlet is his alpha and he can't live without her. Still, he is a true warrior.

Cress and Thorne: I wasn't really impressed with Thorne's character in this book. I like him more in Cress. In this one he didn't have a lot of weight in the story. What to say about Cress? She's just adorable. She becomes the heroine and she doesn't wait for someone to save her like she did all her life. She's finally in control.

Winter and Jacin: Winter is incredible. She is eccentric, okay, let's say mad, because she refuses to use her gift to glamour people and that can leave a permanent damage to the brain. But she's noble, she's loved, she's compassione, she's everything a queen should be.
Jacin is a queen's guard, but his true loyalty is to Winter. He is in love with her and he would do anything for her.

These couples have to go through a lot. I want give anything away, but let's remember it is a fairy tale and the good always win.
